Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar role and therefore will be aware of the expectation for you to be highly self-aware, professionally mature. With the ability to react timely to escalate any issues to relevant colleagues and senior management

Main tasks and responsibilities:

To be able to carry out all tests within both labs (Chemistry and Microbiology), media preparation and operate equipment such as Autoclaves, FTIR Spectroscopes, NIR spectrometers
·        To be able to complete daily taste panels, and to be able to carry out the management of reference samples.

To work safely regarding personal safety and the safety of colleagues and others.
To be able to work unsupervised but within an agreed work schedule.
To be able to ensure that all stock is rotated correctly, conduct stock-takes and report to management any stock needs.
To carry out housekeeping duties as per schedule and to dispose of waste in a safe and  correct manner.
To be competent with lab databases LIMs or similar system
·        To demonstrate competency in testing via internal and external monitoring procedures, and to conduct internal audits to given schedule

To be able to carry out environmental and plant hygiene swabs.
To be able to collate all out of spec’ results on the daily exception report and circulate to the designated list.
To determine and act on non-complying results by communicating information and following up with re-sampling and re-testing.
To use positive release systems for product ingredients and finished products
To respond to requests for product release by email/telephone
To prioritise the given work load, and to ensure lab KPIs are met

Background

•             There should be at least 12 months lab experience working within either chemistry or micro laboratory.

•             There is a need to be computer literate

•             To be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and all levels of management

•             To be able to demonstrate ability to work under pressure, assess workload and breaks to ensure all the testing required is carried in a timely manner

•             To be able to work to strict procedures, and to be able to be audited while carrying out tasks within the lab.

Location & Hours

•             The role is based full time in Oldford, Frome, Somerset, BA11 2NQ

•             Working Monday to Friday 8:30 – 17:30 – Including Bank Holidays
